Is she even at her house... Regardless, that's where he's showing up and knocking. ]

[Whether she was there or not, she'll be there by the time he gets to her. So she's there to open the door, beaming and waving exuberantly, and then she decides birthdays are special enough to warrant hugs, and throws her arms around him instead.]

[ This is the specialest of occasions!! Thus he is perfectly ok with this hug and replies with one of his own. Though hers almost certainly trumps his in force, he is a solid contender when it comes to warmth and love and overall snuggliness. ]

Happy birthday, Morgan! Can you believe it's already been a year since the last one?

[ well yes that's how birthdays work ]

[Male Morgan is always so good for snuggliness, she has nothing to complain about.

So she beams, nodding and not quite letting go of him.]

In some weird way, I sort of can! But that means you've been here for one whoooole year, Morgan! Congratulations!

Yay! Whatever I'm doing, I guess I'd better keep doing it!

[ Being in Haven for a long time sounds like a bad thing alll the way up until you learn about storage. He gives her little shortcake head a pat. ]

We've grown in some ways, but in other ways not so much, huh?

Yeah... I haven't grown taller at all.

[She purses her lips at that, squinting up at her timeline twin's height.

But she shakes that off a moment later, reaching up and uuuup and up on her tippy toes to try to pat the top of his head too.]

But otherwise, I'd say we're doing a great job of becoming proper tacticians!

[ He hasn't grown taller at all either, so they're even... in a manner of speaking. He bows a bit to give her piddy widdly tinky winky self a chance at patting his head. ]

Haven's great for practical application, to be sure. Say, you should play against your father soon. [ That is, their bastardized tactic chess game... thing. ] Maybe you'll even be able to beat him now!

[You know, he's not wrong and that's a very important point that has to be addressed, but...in a moment.

He really does have the same air as Mother. I'm glad I've finally gotten to meet him!

[YEAH THAT'S...THE TOUGH PART. And she knows it's there, waiting to be said, but for now she's not going to bring the mood down and say it.

[... And she sighs, a relieved noise, shoulder slumping a little.]

[ He softens. They're both glad about a lot of things in general, but he knows this is a little different. ]

I could never leave you behind. What kind of twin would I be? As long as one of us is here, the other is bound to stay!

[ Because imagining Haven without her feels terribly wrong. ]

That's right! You'd better never ever!

[And she won't either... though she can't be certain, because even Charles is gone now... people disappear here no matter how long they've been around.

Regardless, she shakes her head a moment later.]

Aaaanyway, do you want your present?

Ooh, right. Of course! Lay it on me.

[ Since he presented first last year, it's her turn this year!!? ]

[And so, without further ado, she pulls out what appears to be a bag of...something......

DRIED MEATS OF SOME SORT (bless you, sebastian).

And she presents it to him, beaming.]

Guess what, guess what? It's bear!

BEAR!! ]

Bear?! For true?

[ Peeking into the bag... he can't handle ]

For true and for real!

[she went out and slaughtered that bear for you...]

They show up in the tunnels sometimes, did you know? And Sebastian was able to preserve it, so it should last a little while!

Amazing. I'll be sure to make it last. Thank you!

[ And he'll squeeze her into a bear hug (ha) for good measure. After that, he pulls what looks like a small disembodied knife handle from his robe and presents it to her. ]

And here's yours! Hold it like this and press this switch here...

[ And if she follows his instructions, a blade will suddenly flip out!! ]

[She giggles quietly, happy to have the hug--and then she blinks, accepting the knife handle thoughtfully.

... ... ...!!!!

Whoaaaa! That's amazing! Where did you come up with something so...hella neat!

[ He beams at her reaction. It was his reaction too!! ]

Heh, I wish I could come up with something like this. I just happened to come across it and thought it might be up your alley. I call it a surprise knife!

[ A much cooler name than switchblade, for sure. ]

Uwaah-- surprise knife! It's perfect! Someone will think they have me on the ropes, and then bam! Surprise knife in their gut!
